چکیده

conclusions according to the findings of our study, there were diverse and high-level resistant p. aeruginosa strains in the major burn center in khuzestan. therefore, we faced troubles controlling the diverse p. aeruginosa clones in the burn patients. methods in a cross sectional study, a total of 75 strains of p. aeruginosa were isolated from burn patients at taleghani hospital, which is the main burn center in ahvaz, iran, during may- september, 2015. antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates was detected using the disk diffusion method. genetic relatedness of the isolates was analyzed by the rep-pcr technique. background infections caused by pseudomonas aeruginosa raise an important issue in burn patients. molecular epidemiologic studies have been used for investigating the genetic features of p. aeruginosa and rep-pcr technique has been introduced as a rapid low cost method. results antimicrobial susceptibility testing showed more than 80% of p. aeruginosa isolates were resistant to ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, meropenem, piperacillin/tazobactam, ticarcillin, ciprofloxacin, and amikacin. based on the rep-pcr analysis, 20 different common types and 20 unique patterns were illustrated among p. aeruginosa isolates. objectives this study focused on investigating the genetic similarity and antibiotic resistance pattern of p. aeruginosa isolated from the clinical samples of burn patients in a major burn center in khuzestan province, iran.

Molecular Analysis of Shigella sonnei Strains Isolated from Hospitals of Tehran and Ilam Cities Using Repetitive Extragenic Palindromic Polymerase Chain Reaction (REP-PCR)

Background and Objective: Shigella species belong to the family Enterobacteriaceae, which cause dysentery with abdominal pain and tenesmus in human. Our country is one of the endemic and occasional epidemic areas of the disease. In the present study, Repetitive Extragenic Palindromic Polymerase Chain Reaction (REP-PCR) technique that has high differentiation and specificity power compared to ph...

Species-specific repetitive extragenic palindromic (REP) sequences in Pseudomonas putida.

Pseudomonas putida KT2440 is a soil bacterium that effectively colonises the roots of many plants and degrades a variety of toxic aromatic compounds. Its genome has recently been sequenced. We describe that a 35 bp sequence with the structure of an imperfect palindrome, originally found repeated three times downstream of the rpoH gene terminator, is detected more than 800 times in the chromosom...

Genotyping of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from burn patients by RAPD-PCR.

BACKGROUND Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the important causes of nosocomial infections that easily gains resistance to many antibiotics. This opportunistic pathogen is a major health hazard particularly in immunodeficient patients, patients in intensive care units (ICU) and burn units with life threatening outcome. The bacterium may be originated from different or common sources, and compris...

Repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR (REP-PCR) as an alternative method for detection of bulking in activated sludge.

Bulking of activated sludge is a world-wide problem which negatively affects wastewater treatment efficiency. The most common reasons of bulking are bacterial community changes, especially excessive growth of filamentous bacteria (filamentous bulking) or excess of biopolymers on the surface of non-filamentous microbes (non-filamentous or Zoogleal bulking). Because of the complex nature of the b...
